'SKF brands' is one of those search phrases that confuses buyers. SKF is a Swedish engineering company, and in the automotive aftermarket it sells under the SKF name plus related brand labels. You might see SKF on a hub unit, but a seal order from the same company can arrive in a Chicago Rawhide (CR) box.

That's not a counterfeit. Chicago Rawhide is part of the SKF group. Same engineering family, same quality system. When you're checking a part, match the part number to the OEM number instead of panicking about the brand banner. In my experience, knock-off parts are a much bigger risk than choosing between genuine parent brands.

If you're buying online, be suspicious of listings that show vague brand claims or missing logos. A genuine SKF box has a clear part number, and you can verify it on the SKF website. That 10-minute check is worth the time.

3. How much does cooling fan replacement cost?

It turned out to be a plugged converter, and the vehicle never set P0420 until the cat was almost completely blocked. So if you're chasing misfires and the fuel trims look strange, don't overlook exhaust restriction. A backpressure test is the definitive check.

6. Should I replace wheel bearings in pairs?
